Unlock Your Profit Code Webinar Notes

I receive a ton of emails a day from marketers. There are some that I open, but most days I don’t open any. For some reason my gut was telling me to open this particular email where I was told about a free webinar that was taking place today.

I can’t even remember what the subject line was in the email, but it was something about doubling my business profits (I later found out that it’s called Unlock Your Profit Code). Who doesn’t want to do that, right? Of course, I get emails like this all the time, but something was really pushing me to sign up for the webinar.

I’m so glad I did.

Content Marketing: The Buzzword We Should Eliminate Now

In the last few years the term "content marketing" has become a buzzword in the online marketing community.

According to ContentMarketingInstitute.com, the definition for content marketing:

“...a marketing technique of creating and distributing valuable, relevant and consistent content to attract and acquire a clearly defined audience – with the objective of driving profitable customer action.”

Why call it content marketing? Why not just stick to calling it "marketing"?

The other night I attended a San Diego Chamber of Commerce mixer, and as always I met quite a few very interesting small business owners. Because I’ve been blogging for 10 years now, and in my circle of business contacts almost everyone blogs, I tend to assume that people understand the benefits of blogging for business.

As I’ve learned in my social media workshops - and was reminded again at the mixer the other night - that’s not necessarily the case. If people do know why they should blog, they’re not really sure what to blog about. You can use a business blog to share information about your company, publish press releases, talk about business activities, events, and share updates with your customers. You could think of it as an online newsletter for your business.
